Marin Monarch Working Group will send an invite to visit monarch overwintering habitat with Mia Monroe in Sept-early Oct to do habitat assessments. Later in October and November we will note arrivals, use of nectar sources, and look for tags. The butterflies will be aggregating or forming clusters, and we will document the current conditions and issues, share locations and access points.  

Mia Monroe will host a public visit for MMWG during each of the 3 count periods for field experience and training, acquaint others with habitat and see either issues or progress.  Monarch numbers have been very low and zero at some sites but it is still important to check!  AND, a goal is to share the experience of being at sites in fall/winter, so MMWG volunteers can visit sites more often to catch temporary clusters, note arrivals, see storm response and more!  The commitment will be to attend zoom training and a field visit (ideally early in season BUT a special session will be set up if/when we see monarchs to locate/count/document).
