What's In That Hole?

Join Bay Nature and Richard Vacha in Point Reyes National Seashore for a guided tracking hike Friday, October 9 from 9am - 11:30am. This event is inspired by this Summer 2026 piece What’s In That Hole?, by Kate Golden. As Kate writes in her piece, “A hole is a home.” But who is calling our favorite trails home and can we allow ourselves to be present in nature and observe before making any conclusions about a site? This event invites attendees to get in the "open sensory state of mind of a tracker.” During this guided walk towards digging fields near Abbotts Lagoon, we will stop along the way to introduce valuable tracking information along the trail. Once in the field, attendees will have an opportunity to use their newly heightened observation skills and focus their attention on being present and picking up on signs of the many critters using the area as a home.
