This fire road passes through some great wildflower habitats including serpentine soil hosting several unusual species. It’s also one of the best places to see some great birds, including grasshopper sparrows, horned larks, and lazuli buntings. We’ll find a shady place to enjoy lunch, and then descend before the afternoon heat. Total miles: 4.5. Elevation change: 500'. This fire road is a steady climb, but we’ll take it very slowly. Remember to bring lunch, and binoculars if you have them. No pets are allowed, except for service/companion animals. Adverse weather or poor air quality may cancel. Registration is required.
