Come to the Historic Cypress Tree Tunnel and learn about this dynamic and thriving ecosystem on Arbor Day!

Drop by any time between 10am-3pm at the Historic Cypress Tree Tunnel in Point Reyes to learn about these trees. The more-than-90-year-old grove of Monterey Cypress has an amazing history and hosts a wide variety of plant and animal life. Take a stroll among these awesome trees and discover why this spot is so special to visitors from the world over.

This is a "drop in" event with park volunteer David Sandri on hand to let you know more about the history of the grove and answer any questions about it.

What better way to spend April 24th - National Arbor Day?

David Sandri is a long-time Agriculture and Natural Sciences Instructor with College of Marin, as well as a Docent for multiple programs in the Point Reyes National Seashore. In addition, he is a certified California Naturalist and UC Climate Steward, and brings his passion for the park to all parts of his work.

Directions

  • From the Bear Valley Visitor Center, head north 0.2 miles (0.3 km) to Bear Valley Road

  • Turn left and follow Bear Valley Road 1.75 miles (2.8 km) northwest to Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

  • Turn left and follow Sir Francis Drake Boulevard 9.5 miles (15.2 km) north and west.

  • Follow road signs for “Lighthouse” until you see a sign for "North District Operation Center."

  • Parallel park on the shoulder along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.
