Talk: State of the Birds with Julian Wood

March 4, 2026 12:00-1:00pm

Join Bay Nature and Julian Wood, scientist with Point Blue Conservation Science, for a virtual talk about the status of birds in the SF Bay Area on Wednesday, March 4 from 12pm - 1pm. Have you been wondering how our Bay Area birds are doing, overall? Tune into this talk to find out. Wood's and others' research formed the basis for The 2025 San Francisco Bay State of the Birds, a report published in 2025 by Point Blue Conservation Science and the San Francisco Bay Joint Venture, a partnership that helps safeguard migratory birds. As Tanvi Dutta Gupta writes, "the research shows a mixed bag: some bird groups, like in tidal marshes, are doing well, while others, like shorebirds, are struggling." This talk is free for Bay Nature Members and $5 for Nonmembers.

Meet Your Speaker:

Julian Wood is the San Francisco Bay Program Leader at Point Blue where he works to promote conservation actions that address climate change and land-use change in ways that benefit human and wetland bird communities throughout the Bay Area.
