Field season is coming!
With the onset of warmer weather, we're getting excited about the coming field season for the California Bumble Bee Atlas, and hope that you are too. We'll start catching bees for the project March 15th in the warmest parts of the state!
Training workshops
The required training for the Bumble Bee Atlas is a two-hour Zoom-based training webinar. We have scheduled two of these events:
You can register for these events by clicking the links above. If you're not able to join us for either of these dates, we'll record the first webinar, and you'll be able to watch it on the Xerces YouTube Channel. Either way, after attending the webinar, you'll have to pass a short (easy!) quiz before you can be added to the project's Scientific Collecting Permit with CA Department of Fish and Wildlife, a requirement for participation in the project.
Even if you are a returning volunteer, we'd like you to attend the webinar as a refresher.
We'll also be hosting some in-person trainings around the state, likely to be held in April and May. If you plan to help us with the new long-term monitoring project, these trainings will be particularly useful. Stay tuned for details on this!
