Bay Nature Talk: Winter Wildflower Roundup

Tickets: $0-$5

Join Bay Nature and Alison S. Pollack, biologist and wildflower specialist, for a virtual talk on winter wildflowers of the Bay Area on Wednesday, January 14 from 12pm - 1pm. We are so lucky to live in a region where the first flowers start blooming in the heart of winter. There are a few native wildflower species that reliably emerge in January or even earlier. In this talk, we will discuss and learn about our earliest bloomers including where to find them, how to identify them, and what the latest science reveals about our winter flowers. This event is inspired by Alison's piece about the fetid adder's tongue, from our winter 2025 issue. This talk is free for Bay Nature Members and $5 for Nonmembers.

Meet Your Speaker:

Alison S. Pollack is a Bay Area freelance writer, biologist, and educator whose insatiable curiosity frequently takes her down research rabbit holes and trail crossroads. She holds a masters in Ecology and has spent more than a decade working in natural resources and habitat restoration. Most importantly, she’s a complete native flower fanatic. As soon as the first blooms open, you can find her outside trying to get up close to anything in flower.
