Join Bay Nature Magazine and Occidental Arts & Ecology Center co-directors Kate Lundquist and Brock Dolman for a virtual talk about beavers on Wednesday, July 9, from 12 - 1pm. A vital part of aquatic ecosystems, the North American beaver (Castor canadensis) came close to extinction. Thanks to collaborative advocacy efforts, communities across California are learning to partner with beavers to revive watershed health, recover endangered species and increase resiliency to drought, wildfire and floods. Brock and Kate will talk about this “keystone” species’ remarkable biology, its benefits to other watershed residents and how it went from most reviled rodent to climate change hero. This talk is free for Bay Nature Members and $5 for nonmembers.
