Bay Area Wildlife: An Irreverent Guide Reading

Sunday, June 1

2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Keith Hansen’s Wildlife Gallery

48 Wharf Road
Bolinas, CA 94924 United States

If you think wildlife books are all field notes and dry facts, you haven’t read Bay Area Wildlife: An Irreverent Guide by Jeff Miller! On Sunday, June 1st, the Environmental Action Committee hosts Jeff Miller—longtime conservationist, Bird Festival guide, and SPAWN’s very first employee—will bring his newest book to life in a setting as wild and wonderful as the stories it tells.

Join us in the lush patio of Keith Hansen’s Wildlife Gallery in Bolinas for an afternoon of wine, snacks, and utterly inappropriate animal behavior. Miller’s new book doesn’t just inform—it entertains, with tales of animal mayhem and the strange and surprising drama of Bay Area ecology. With original illustrations by renowned artist Obi Kaufmann, Bay Area Wildlife is as visually captivating as it is unfiltered.

Expect candid conversations about Marin’s conservation efforts, outrageous true stories from the wild, and a chance to connect with local legends like Keith Hansen himself—whose bird art will be on full display. This is your chance to talk shop, sip wine, and maybe walk away a little smarter (or at least a lot more amused).

This event is proudly sponsored by Turtle Island Restoration Network. Bring your curiosity, your appetite, and your sense of humor!
