Bay Nature talk: native bees

Join Bay Nature Magazine and native bee specialist Diony Gamoso for a virtual talk about native bees and what people can do for them on Wednesday, May 28, from 12 - 1pm. Come learn about the Bay Area’s native bees!  In this talk, you’ll learn what makes a bee a bee, their “lifestyles”, why they’re so important, and what you can do to help them.  In addition, you will get introduced to research being done in the Presidio of San Francisco studying how adding native plants to ornamental beds impacts on our local pollinators. This talk is free for members and $5 for nonmembers.

This event is inspired by the "Bees Are Heating Up. How Will They Cope?" piece published by Tanvi Dutta Gupta.

About the speakers:

Diony Gamoso is an Oakland native and works as a Biological Science Technician for the Presidio Trust in San Francisco.  He is also a master’s student in the LeBuhn Lab of San Francisco State University, studying native bees.  He got interested in bees through his work doing habitat restoration, and through nature journaling.
