Know Your Faults: Olema Valley Geology Hike Along the San Andreas

Friday, June 7 · 10am - 3pm PST

Hike the Randall Spur and Olema Valley trails within the San Andreas Fault and learn about this active boundary between the North American and Pacific Plates. View fault-related landscapes and discuss plate tectonics, the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, and natural hazards in the Bay Area.

John Karachewski has conducted geology and environmental projects from Colorado to Alaska to Midway Island and throughout California. He has led over 50 geology hikes for PRNSA, and with Doris Sloan collaborated on a popular book “Geology of the San Francisco Bay Region.” John enjoys biking, hiking, and photographing landscapes.
