Join us in celebrating the third annual California State Parks Week with a bioblitz in Tomales Bay State Park! Adventure through ancient Bishop Pine groves, sheltered beaches, and coastal bluffs to seek and submit as many species as you can!

Bioblitzes are a great way to celebrate biodiversity in our parks and can be very useful for parks staff in determining overall species counts in an ecosystem or area. Participants should expect to spend the day hiking through the park, and should dress appropriately for weather, wear sturdy shoes, and pack snacks/lunch, as food will not be provided. After the Bioblitz, participants can return to the Vista Point picnic area to complete their uploads, as service is limited in the park.

To get to the Vista Point parking lot, continue on the main road for a little more than a quarter mile past the pay station at the entrance to the park. Entrance to the Vista Point parking area will be up the hill, past the Heart’s Desire Beach parking area. Plan to meet staff in the picnic area, for check in and more information on the uploading process.

Interested? Make sure you "join the project" on iNaturalist before you arrive, as service is limited in the park. See you there!
